About the RoleJoin our team as a Freelance Data Center Technician in Basel, Switzerland. This is an hourly, on-demand, dispatch-based contract opportunity supporting data center operations and infrastructure projects.Assignments depend on client demand and may range from a few hours to a full day or longer. There are no guaranteed weekly hours, and technicians should be comfortable working independently onsite and responding to assignments as needed.Compensation & BenefitsHourly compensation based on the agreed contractor ratePayment based on actual hours workedTravel allowance may apply to eligible assignmentsAdditional rates may apply for eligible night, weekend, or other scheduled work, subject to the agreed termsWork ScheduleFreelance, hourly, project-based assignmentsFlexible schedule depending on client requirements and assignment availabilitySome assignments may require nights, weekends, or short-notice availabilityNo guaranteed minimum number of hours per weekKey ResponsibilitiesInstall, rack, stack, and decommission server and network equipmentPerform structured cabling, including copper and fiber-optic connectionsReplace hardware components and perform basic physical troubleshootingAssist with equipment deployments, migrations, and upgradesTroubleshoot physical connectivity, cabling, and hardware issuesMaintain accurate documentation, asset records, and ticket updatesFollow site procedures, technical instructions, and safety requirementsCoordinate with project managers, remote teams, and data center personnelComplete assigned tasks independently and escalate issues when necessaryFor technicians with advanced technical experience, assignments may also involve:Advanced Cisco or Juniper routing and switching configurationVLANs, routing protocols, ACLs, and network securityComplex network and server troubleshooting, including root cause analysisData center migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and network reconfigurationAutomation, scripting, and advanced server/network configurationTroubleshooting complex connectivity issues across multiple devices and systems
