Data Center Migration in Frankfurt

A data center migration is the physical relocation of servers and network equipment from one place to another. The move can be between racks, between rooms or between facilities. For a CTO or IT Director in Frankfurt, the physical move is where schedules slip, because it depends on people on site, on cabling and on the rules of the building. Reboot Monkey is a third-party datacenter services operator. It does not own the buildings and is not a hosting company, so it carries out the move inside data centres that other companies own and run. Digital Realty Frankfurt FRA1-27 stands on Hanauer Landstrasse in Frankfurt.

The division of work is set at the start. Reboot Monkey can run the whole physical move, or it can work alongside the customer's own team. Who disconnects the equipment, who reconnects it and who tests it afterwards is agreed per project, so a customer that wants to keep its own administrators in charge of the final checks can do so, and a customer that wants one party accountable for the full move can have that instead. A second, briefed Reboot Monkey engineer is named as backup for every customer site, so the work does not depend on a single person being available on the day.

Our Data Center Migration Services

Data center migration sits within the server migration work Reboot Monkey does: moving equipment between racks, rooms or facilities. A migration project rarely stands alone, so the surrounding physical services can be scoped into the same job. Rack and stack covers installing, mounting and cabling new hardware at the destination. Smart hands covers technical work that needs diagnostic judgement and configuration knowledge, for example when a moved system does not come up as expected. Remote hands covers physical tasks on the customer's instruction, such as reboots, cable checks, component swaps and visual checks.

Connectivity is part of the move as well. Reboot Monkey sells the network for the rack. It orders the cross connects and carrier circuits from the facility operator and the carriers present in the facility, and Reboot Monkey engineers install and patch the cabling in the customer's rack. For a migration, that means the circuits for the destination can be ordered as part of the project rather than arranged separately, and the cabling in the rack is handled by the same engineers who place the equipment.

When the source site is being closed, the retired hardware can be removed and disposed of through data center decommissioning, and IT asset disposition covers data wiping, on-site shredding or degaussing, collection and transport, with resale or buyback quoted case by case. Hardware monitoring by the Reboot Monkey NOC can follow the customer's servers and network equipment once they are running in their new location. Equinix FR5 stands on Kleyerstrasse in Frankfurt.

  • Server migration between racks, rooms or facilities
  • Rack and stack of new hardware at the destination
  • Smart hands for diagnostic and configuration work after the move
  • Cross connects and carrier circuits ordered for the destination rack
  • Decommissioning and IT asset disposition for the retired site

Why Reboot Monkey

The facility operator owns and runs the building, including its power, cooling and access policy, and Reboot Monkey engineers work under the operator's site rules. Reboot Monkey does not replace the operator and does not run the building. It supplies the engineers, the rack space, the network and the hardware that a migration needs, and it fits the move to the access rules of the site where the work happens.

There is one provider for the physical move and for the services around it. Reboot Monkey sells rack space, IP transit, leased IP addresses, network and data-centre hardware, and the services that deliver, install and support them, so a procurement manager can place the destination capacity and the move under one supplier relationship. Prices are quoted on request and depend on the customer and the size of the job, so a quote reflects the actual scope of the migration rather than a standard package.

For planning, the practical points are the agreed split of roles, the named backup engineer and the single supplier. Equinix FR7 stands on Gutleutstrasse in Frankfurt.

How Reboot Monkey Works

These terms apply in every facility in Frankfurt where Reboot Monkey engineers work.

  • Response: 1-hour, around-the-clock incident response SLA, and a 15 minute premium response available where technicians are stationed on-site, as a paid add-on. The incident response SLA covers incidents and unplanned requests; on-site, dispatch and resolution times, priority tiers, and planned or scheduled work are agreed per site in the service agreement.
  • Monitoring: 24/7 NOC monitoring across all facilities, covering IPMI, iDRAC, SNMP, temperature, power, network signals.
  • Hardware: vendor-neutral technicians for Dell, HP, Cisco, Juniper and Arista equipment.
  • Independence: independent from facility operators (not Equinix SmartHands, not NTT staff).
  • One agreement: single provider across cities, so a customer in several cities needs only one agreement.
  • Service levels and terms: https://www.rebootmonkey.com/en/solutions/sla
  • Published case study: a major ICT provider engaged Reboot Monkey for three full infrastructure rollouts in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, with the hardware installed the same day at every site. Data Center Migration in Other Cities in Germany

Reboot Monkey runs migrations in other German cities as well, including [Data Center Migration in Berlin](/en/data-center-migration/germany/berlin/). A company that is consolidating sites across Germany can plan the work with one provider and one way of working in each city. As of 2026, Reboot Monkey's field engineers work in 190 countries and more than 400 locations, so a move that crosses a border can be planned with the same supplier on both sides.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does data center migration cover in Frankfurt?

Data center migration in Frankfurt covers moving customer equipment between racks, rooms or facilities. Reboot Monkey can run the whole physical move or work alongside the customer's own team, and who disconnects, reconnects and tests the equipment is agreed per project. A second, briefed Reboot Monkey engineer is named as backup for every customer site.

Do you work in every datacenter in Frankfurt?

Reboot Monkey engineers work in any facility in Frankfurt where the customer has equipment and access, under the operator's own access and safety rules. The customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list before the first visit.

How fast can Reboot Monkey respond in Frankfurt?

Incidents and unplanned requests are handled under a 1-hour, around-the-clock incident response SLA. There is also a 15 minute premium response available where technicians are stationed on-site, as a paid add-on. On-site, dispatch and resolution times, priority tiers, and planned or scheduled work are agreed per site in the service agreement.

How is Reboot Monkey different from the facility operator's own staff?

Facility operators' own technicians work for the building. Reboot Monkey engineers work for the customer: they are independent from facility operators (not Equinix SmartHands, not NTT staff), follow the customer's instructions, and the same team can cover several buildings in the city under one agreement.

How do I get started with data center migration in Frankfurt?

Send the site, the equipment and the task through the contact form. Reboot Monkey replies with a quote and an engineer plan for that facility. Once agreed, the customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list and the data center migration work is scheduled under the operator's rules.
