Rack and Stack in London

New servers, switches and storage arrive on a pallet and have to become working equipment in a rack. Rack and stack is the work that closes that gap: installing, mounting and cabling new hardware. For a CTO or IT Director planning a deployment in London, the question is who handles the hardware once it reaches the building, and under whose rules. Telehouse - London (Docklands North) stands on Coriander Avenue in London. The building belongs to its operator, and the operator owns and runs it, including its power, cooling and access policy. Reboot Monkey is a third-party datacenter services operator. It does not host your workloads and does not own the data centres it works in. It sells rack space, IP transit, leased IP addresses, network and data-centre hardware, together with the services that deliver, install and support them. For a rack and stack job this means one supplier can cover the hardware, the connectivity and the physical installation, rather than leaving you to coordinate each separately.

Our Rack and Stack Services

Rack and stack work covers cabling, labelling and power-on checks. Each of those is a defined step in the job, and a quote for it is given on request. Prices depend on the customer and the size of the job, so a single server and a multi-rack deployment are quoted on their own terms.

The work breaks down as follows.

  • Mounting: new servers, switches and other hardware are installed into the rack.
  • Cabling: data and network cabling is run and connected in the customer's rack.
  • Labelling: cables and devices are labelled so that later changes, fault tracing and audits of the rack are straightforward for whoever works on it next.
  • Power-on checks: each device is powered on and checked before the job is handed back, so you know the hardware starts as expected.
  • Fibre inspection: a fibre inspection scope and cleaning kit are available on request for jobs where fibre connections need checking.

Why Reboot Monkey

A rack and stack job rarely stops at the rack. The hardware needs a network path, and that path is ordered from outside the rack. Reboot Monkey sells the network for the rack: it orders the cross connects and carrier circuits from the facility operator and the carriers present in the facility, and Reboot Monkey engineers install and patch the cabling in the customer's rack. The circuit order and the physical patching sit with one supplier.

Every customer site has continuity built in. A second, briefed Reboot Monkey engineer is named as backup for every customer site, so a planned install is not tied to the availability of one person.

The service reaches beyond a single city. As of 2026, Reboot Monkey's field engineers work in 190 countries and more than 400 locations. For a customer building out in London and elsewhere, the same supplier can follow the deployment from site to site.

After the hardware is racked, the same engineers can handle later work in the facility. That includes technical changes that need diagnostic judgement, and moving equipment between racks, rooms or facilities.

How Reboot Monkey Works

These terms apply in every facility in London where Reboot Monkey engineers work.

  • Response: 1-hour, around-the-clock incident response SLA, and a 15 minute premium response available where technicians are stationed on-site, as a paid add-on. The incident response SLA covers incidents and unplanned requests; on-site, dispatch and resolution times, priority tiers, and planned or scheduled work are agreed per site in the service agreement.
  • Monitoring: 24/7 NOC monitoring across all facilities, covering IPMI, iDRAC, SNMP, temperature, power, network signals.
  • Hardware: vendor-neutral technicians for Dell, HP, Cisco, Juniper and Arista equipment.
  • Independence: independent from facility operators (not Equinix SmartHands, not NTT staff).
  • One agreement: single provider across cities, so a customer in several cities needs only one agreement.

Related Services

Rack and stack is usually one part of a larger deployment. If you need the rack space itself, see [Colocation in London](/en/colocation/united-kingdom/london/). Once the hardware is installed and running, ongoing physical and technical tasks in the facility can be handled through [Smart Hands in London](/en/smart-hands/united-kingdom/london/). Smart hands is technical work that needs diagnostic judgement and configuration knowledge, which goes beyond the mounting and cabling of the initial install.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does rack and stack cover in London?

Rack and stack in London covers installing, mounting and cabling new hardware in the customer's rack. The work includes cabling, labelling and power-on checks. Reboot Monkey engineers carry it out under the facility operator's site rules, and quotes are given on request. Prices depend on the customer and the size of the job.

Do you work in every datacenter in London?

Reboot Monkey engineers work in any facility in London where the customer has equipment and access, under the operator's own access and safety rules. The customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list before the first visit.

How fast can Reboot Monkey respond in London?

Incidents and unplanned requests are handled under a 1-hour, around-the-clock incident response SLA. There is also a 15 minute premium response available where technicians are stationed on-site, as a paid add-on. On-site, dispatch and resolution times, priority tiers, and planned or scheduled work are agreed per site in the service agreement.

How is Reboot Monkey different from the facility operator's own staff?

Facility operators' own technicians work for the building. Reboot Monkey engineers work for the customer: they are independent from facility operators (not Equinix SmartHands, not NTT staff), follow the customer's instructions, and the same team can cover several buildings in the city under one agreement.

How do I get started with rack and stack in London?

Send the site, the equipment and the task through the contact form. Reboot Monkey replies with a quote and an engineer plan for that facility. Once agreed, the customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list and the rack and stack work is scheduled under the operator's rules.
