Server Migration in Hamburg
A server migration is the physical relocation of equipment: from one rack to another, from one room to another, or from one facility to another. For a CTO or IT Director in Hamburg the question is rarely whether the move is possible. It is who disconnects the hardware, who transports it, who reconnects it and who confirms that it works at the destination. Reboot Monkey answers that question per project, in writing, before anyone travels to site.
Hamburg has several colocation buildings that customers move between or consolidate into. Portus/IPHH HH2 (Wendenstrasse 408) stands on Wendenstraße in Hamburg. Migrations here typically start from one of two situations: an existing deployment that has to leave a building, or a new footprint that equipment has to reach. In both cases Reboot Monkey is a third-party datacenter services operator working inside facilities that other companies own and run. It is not a hosting company and does not own datacenters, so the migration is planned around your hardware and your destination, not around a platform of ours.

Our Server Migration Services
Server migration at Reboot Monkey covers moving equipment between racks, rooms or facilities. Within that scope the work is organised around a short sequence that the customer can follow from first contact to finished job.
The first step is scoping. You describe what has to move, where it is today and where it has to end up, and Reboot Monkey confirms the split of responsibilities. The facts of the arrangement are simple: Reboot Monkey can run the whole physical move or work alongside the customer's own team, and who disconnects, reconnects and tests the equipment is agreed per project. Some customers keep the logical cutover and testing with their own staff and hand over only the physical work. Others hand over the entire move.
When the destination needs connectivity, Reboot Monkey sells the network for the rack. It orders the cross connects and carrier circuits from the facility operator and the carriers present in the facility, and Reboot Monkey engineers install and patch the cabling in your rack. New hardware that arrives alongside the migration can be installed, mounted and cabled as rack and stack work under the same project.
- Moves between racks, rooms or facilities
- Whole physical move run by Reboot Monkey, or shared with your own team
- Cross connects and carrier circuits ordered through the facility operator and the carriers present
- Cabling installed and patched in your rack by Reboot Monkey engineers
- Optional rack and stack for hardware that joins the move
Why Reboot Monkey
A migration puts production equipment in transit, so continuity of people matters as much as the plan. A second, briefed Reboot Monkey engineer is named as backup for every customer site. If the primary engineer is unavailable on the day, the backup already knows the site and the job. The building itself is run by someone else. NorthC Hamburg stands on Süderstrasse in Hamburg, and the facility operator owns and runs the building, including its power, cooling and access policy. Prices are quoted on request and depend on the customer and the size of the job. A small rack-to-rack move and a full facility exit are different jobs, and the quote reflects that. Because Reboot Monkey is vendor-neutral, the migration is not tied to a particular hardware brand or to a particular destination building.
How Reboot Monkey Works
These terms apply in every facility in Hamburg where Reboot Monkey engineers work.
- Response: 1-hour, around-the-clock incident response SLA, and a 15 minute premium response available where technicians are stationed on-site, as a paid add-on. The incident response SLA covers incidents and unplanned requests; on-site, dispatch and resolution times, priority tiers, and planned or scheduled work are agreed per site in the service agreement.
- Monitoring: 24/7 NOC monitoring across all facilities, covering IPMI, iDRAC, SNMP, temperature, power, network signals.
- Hardware: vendor-neutral technicians for Dell, HP, Cisco, Juniper and Arista equipment.
- Independence: independent from facility operators (not Equinix SmartHands, not NTT staff).
- One agreement: single provider across cities, so a customer in several cities needs only one agreement.

- Published case study: a major ICT provider engaged Reboot Monkey for three full infrastructure rollouts in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, with the hardware installed the same day at every site. Server Migration in Other Cities in Germany
Some migrations in Hamburg are one leg of a wider move, for example consolidating equipment from Hamburg into another German city or the reverse. Reboot Monkey works across Germany, and as of 2026 its field engineers work in 190 countries and more than 400 locations. Where your destination is Frankfurt, the same request process applies, and the arrangement for the Frankfurt end is described in our Server Migration in Frankfurt service. Planning both ends together keeps the source and destination teams aligned on dates, access and cabling.
Related Services
A migration often changes what is needed around it. When equipment lands in a new facility, the question becomes where it will live and what it connects to. Reviewing Colocation in Hamburg is the natural next step if your move is into a Hamburg building and you still need rack space and connectivity arranged. Reboot Monkey also delivers the physical services that follow a move: remote hands for reboots, cable checks and component swaps, smart hands for work that needs diagnostic judgement, and hardware monitoring of your servers and network equipment by the Reboot Monkey NOC. If a migration leaves retired hardware behind, data center decommissioning covers its removal and disposal, and IT asset disposition covers data wiping, shredding or degaussing, collection and transport.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does server migration cover in Hamburg?
Server migration covers moving equipment between racks, rooms or facilities. Reboot Monkey engineers can run the whole physical move or work alongside your own team, and who disconnects, reconnects and tests the equipment is agreed per project. Where the destination needs network, Reboot Monkey orders the cross connects and carrier circuits and its engineers install and patch the cabling in your rack.
Do you work in every datacenter in Hamburg?
Reboot Monkey engineers work in any facility in Hamburg where the customer has equipment and access, under the operator's own access and safety rules. The customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list before the first visit.
How fast can Reboot Monkey respond in Hamburg?
Incidents and unplanned requests are handled under a 1-hour, around-the-clock incident response SLA. There is also a 15 minute premium response available where technicians are stationed on-site, as a paid add-on. On-site, dispatch and resolution times, priority tiers, and planned or scheduled work are agreed per site in the service agreement.
How is Reboot Monkey different from the facility operator's own staff?
Facility operators' own technicians work for the building. Reboot Monkey engineers work for the customer: they are independent from facility operators (not Equinix SmartHands, not NTT staff), follow the customer's instructions, and the same team can cover several buildings in the city under one agreement.
How do I get started with server migration in Hamburg?
Send the site, the equipment and the task through the contact form. Reboot Monkey replies with a quote and an engineer plan for that facility. Once agreed, the customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list and the server migration work is scheduled under the operator's rules.
