Server Migration in Munich
Moving servers is a physical project with a dependency chain: equipment has to be disconnected, transported or re-racked, reconnected and tested, and each step has an owner. For companies in Munich, Reboot Monkey handles that physical work inside data centres that other companies own and run. Reboot Monkey is a third-party datacenter services operator, not a hosting company and not a datacenter owner, so the migration is carried out in the facilities where your hardware already sits or where it is going.
Equinix MU1/MU3 - Munich stands on Seidlstrasse. The building belongs to its operator, which owns and runs its power, cooling and access policy, and Reboot Monkey engineers work under the operator's site rules.
A server migration here can mean several things: moving equipment from one rack to another, from one room to another, or from one facility to a different one. The scope is set before work begins, because the answer to who disconnects, who reconnects and who tests differs from one project to the next.

Our Server Migration Services
A migration request starts with the scope: which equipment moves, where it moves from and to, and which parts of the work your own team keeps. Reboot Monkey can run the whole physical move or work alongside the customer's own team, and who disconnects, reconnects and tests the equipment is agreed per project. That split is written down before the first engineer is dispatched, so nobody on the day has to guess where responsibility lies.
Once the scope is agreed, a Reboot Monkey engineer is dispatched to the facility. A second, briefed Reboot Monkey engineer is named as backup for your site, so the project does not depend on one person being available.
A move often needs new network paths at the destination. Reboot Monkey orders the cross connects and carrier circuits from the facility operator and the carriers present in the facility, and Reboot Monkey engineers install and patch the cabling in your rack. Hardware that arrives at the destination can be rack-mounted and cabled as part of the same project.
- Moves between racks, rooms or facilities
- Disconnection, reconnection and testing, split as agreed per project
- Cross connects and carrier circuits ordered from the operator and carriers
- Cabling installed and patched in the customer's rack
- A named backup engineer for the customer site
Why Reboot Monkey
Reboot Monkey sells rack space, IP transit, leased IP addresses, network, data-centre hardware and the services that deliver, install and support them. For a migration, that means one provider can cover both the physical move and the connectivity at the destination, instead of you coordinating separate parties for transport, cabling and circuits.
The work is done by Reboot Monkey field engineers, and the migration sits alongside the other services Reboot Monkey runs in the same facilities: remote hands, smart hands, rack and stack, data center decommissioning, IT asset disposition and hardware monitoring. If the old location is being emptied after the move, the retired hardware can be handled as a decommissioning job by the same provider. Smart hands covers work that needs diagnostic judgement and configuration knowledge, which matters when a moved server does not come up as expected.
Prices are quoted on request and depend on the customer and the size of the job. As of 2026, Reboot Monkey's field engineers work in 190 countries and more than 400 locations.

Server Migration in Other Cities in Germany
If your migration spans more than one site in Germany, the same request can include a second location. A project that ends in a different city, for example one that moves equipment on to a Frankfurt facility, is scoped the same way as a Munich project, with the split of disconnection, reconnection and testing agreed up front. Reboot Monkey lists its server migration work for that city under Server Migration in Frankfurt, which is where to start when a move has a destination there.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does server migration cover in Munich?
Server migration in Munich covers moving equipment between racks, rooms or facilities. Reboot Monkey can run the whole physical move or work alongside your own team, and who disconnects, reconnects and tests the equipment is agreed per project. Engineers install and patch cabling in your rack, and a second, briefed engineer is named as backup for your site.
Do you work in every datacenter in Munich?
Reboot Monkey engineers work in any facility in Munich where the customer has equipment and access, under the operator's own access and safety rules. The customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list before the first visit.
How fast can Reboot Monkey respond in Munich?
Incidents and unplanned requests are handled under a 1-hour, around-the-clock incident response SLA. There is also a 15 minute premium response available where technicians are stationed on-site, as a paid add-on. On-site, dispatch and resolution times, priority tiers, and planned or scheduled work are agreed per site in the service agreement.
How is Reboot Monkey different from the facility operator's own staff?
Facility operators' own technicians work for the building. Reboot Monkey engineers work for the customer: they are independent from facility operators (not Equinix SmartHands, not NTT staff), follow the customer's instructions, and the same team can cover several buildings in the city under one agreement.
How do I get started with server migration in Munich?
Send the site, the equipment and the task through the contact form. Reboot Monkey replies with a quote and an engineer plan for that facility. Once agreed, the customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list and the server migration work is scheduled under the operator's rules.
