Server Migration in Marseille
In 2019 the port of Marseille-Fos announced new subsea cable landing infrastructure, with a first phase able to accommodate up to six cables. Marseille is described as a data hub for Europe and the Mediterranean region, with subsea cables linking it directly to the Middle East and many locations across Africa. That is why infrastructure teams place and relocate equipment here, and why a move into, out of or within the city needs careful physical planning. dc2scale MRS1 (Marseille datacenter) stands on rue Jacques Reattu in Marseille. Reboot Monkey is a third-party datacenter services operator, not a hosting company and not a datacenter owner, so a migration is carried out inside a building that another company owns and runs. Planning a move therefore starts with the operator's requirements for access, delivery and equipment handling, which we fold into the project plan before any hardware is touched.

Our Server Migration Services
Server migration, as Reboot Monkey defines it, is moving equipment between racks, rooms or facilities. A job in Marseille can be a move from one rack to another, a move between halls, or a transfer between two facilities. Each project is scoped around the equipment, the source and the destination, and how much of the work your own staff want to keep.
The division of labour is flexible. Reboot Monkey can run the whole physical move, or work alongside your own team. Who disconnects, reconnects and tests the equipment is agreed per project, so your engineers can keep control of the logical side while ours handle the hands-on work in the room.
- Moves between racks, rooms or facilities, scoped per project
- Removal and re-mounting of servers and network equipment in the customer's racks
- Cabling installed and patched in the customer's rack at the destination
- Cross connects and carrier circuits ordered from the facility operator and the carriers present in the facility
- Disconnection, reconnection and testing split between Reboot Monkey and your team as agreed
- A request handled from first contact through to finished work, with a second briefed engineer named as backup
Why Reboot Monkey
Reboot Monkey sells the network for the rack as well as the labour to move into it. When a migration needs new connectivity at the destination, the cross connects and carrier circuits are ordered from the facility operator and the carriers present in the facility, and Reboot Monkey engineers install and patch the cabling in your rack. One supplier can therefore cover the equipment move and the connectivity it depends on, which keeps the cutover plan in one place. A second, briefed Reboot Monkey engineer is named as backup for every customer site, so a project does not depend on a single person being available on the day. Prices are quoted on request and depend on the customer and the size of the job. Send the equipment list, the source and destination, and your preferred split of responsibilities, and the quote follows from those details.

These terms apply in every facility in Marseille where Reboot Monkey engineers work.
- Response: 1-hour, around-the-clock incident response SLA, and a 15 minute premium response available where technicians are stationed on-site, as a paid add-on. The incident response SLA covers incidents and unplanned requests; on-site, dispatch and resolution times, priority tiers, and planned or scheduled work are agreed per site in the service agreement.
- Monitoring: 24/7 NOC monitoring across all facilities, covering IPMI, iDRAC, SNMP, temperature, power, network signals.
- Hardware: vendor-neutral technicians for Dell, HP, Cisco, Juniper and Arista equipment.
- Independence: independent from facility operators (not Equinix SmartHands, not NTT staff).

The data centres we work in hold their own certifications, such as ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO 9001. Ask us for the certificate of your site.
Related Services
A migration often runs alongside other work in the same building. If the destination rack space is not yet arranged, you can review Colocation in Marseille before the move date is fixed. New hardware arriving with the move can be installed through rack and stack, and retired hardware left behind can go to data center decommissioning or IT asset disposition. After the move, hardware monitoring by the Reboot Monkey NOC covers your servers and network equipment, and remote hands and smart hands cover day-to-day physical tasks and technical work that needs diagnostic judgement.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does server migration cover in Marseille?
Server migration covers moving equipment between racks, rooms or facilities in Marseille. Reboot Monkey can run the whole physical move or work alongside your own team, and who disconnects, reconnects and tests the equipment is agreed per project. Cabling is installed and patched in your rack, and the facility operator's site rules apply throughout.
Do you work in every datacenter in Marseille?
Reboot Monkey engineers work in any facility in Marseille where the customer has equipment and access, under the operator's own access and safety rules. The customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list before the first visit.
How fast can Reboot Monkey respond in Marseille?
Incidents and unplanned requests are handled under a 1-hour, around-the-clock incident response SLA. There is also a 15 minute premium response available where technicians are stationed on-site, as a paid add-on. On-site, dispatch and resolution times, priority tiers, and planned or scheduled work are agreed per site in the service agreement.
How is Reboot Monkey different from the facility operator's own staff?
Facility operators' own technicians work for the building. Reboot Monkey engineers work for the customer: they are independent from facility operators (not Equinix SmartHands, not NTT staff), follow the customer's instructions, and the same team can cover several buildings in the city under one agreement.
How do I get started with server migration in Marseille?
Send the site, the equipment and the task through the contact form. Reboot Monkey replies with a quote and an engineer plan for that facility. Once agreed, the customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list and the server migration work is scheduled under the operator's rules.
