Remote Hands in Marseille
In 2019 the port of Marseille-Fos announced new subsea cable landing infrastructure, with a first phase able to accommodate up to six cables. Marseille is described as a data hub for Europe and the Mediterranean region, with subsea cables linking it directly to the Middle East and many locations across Africa. For a CTO or IT director, that makes the city a practical place to host equipment, and equipment needs hands when something has to be touched. dc2scale MRS1 (Marseille datacenter) stands on rue Jacques Reattu in Marseille. Remote hands covers the physical work you cannot do from a screen. You describe the task, a Reboot Monkey engineer carries it out in your rack, and you receive confirmation that the work was done. The engineer acts only on your instruction and does not change configuration or hardware beyond what you asked for. Work that needs diagnostic judgement and configuration knowledge falls under smart hands, a separate service, so you know before the job starts which kind of task you are ordering. Reboot Monkey does not own or run any data center.

How a Request Is Handled
A request starts with a message describing the task, the rack and the equipment concerned. Reboot Monkey confirms the scope with you before dispatching an engineer, so the person who arrives on site has the instruction in front of them. The engineer carries out the task inside the facility, within the operator's access rules, and reports back so you can confirm the result.
For every customer site a second, briefed Reboot Monkey engineer is named as backup. If the primary engineer is unavailable, the backup already knows the site and the task context, which keeps a request from stalling on a handover. Prices are quoted on request and depend on the customer and the size of the job, so a quote reflects your actual scope rather than a generic package.
When a task grows beyond reboots and swaps, the adjacent services take over. Rack and stack covers installing, mounting and cabling new hardware. Server migration covers moving equipment between racks, rooms or facilities. Data center decommissioning covers removing and disposing of retired hardware. Hardware monitoring means the Reboot Monkey NOC watches your servers and network equipment, and an alert from it can become a remote hands request.
Why Reboot Monkey
Reboot Monkey is a third-party datacenter services operator. It sells rack space, IP transit, leased IP addresses, network, data-centre hardware and the services that deliver, install and support them, inside data centres that other companies own and run. It is not a hosting company, so your hardware, contracts with carriers and architecture stay yours.
The network for the rack is part of the same relationship. Reboot Monkey orders the cross connects and carrier circuits from the facility operator and the carriers present in the facility, and its engineers install and patch the cabling in your rack. One supplier therefore handles the circuit order and the physical connection, which removes a coordination step between operator, carrier and your own team.
As of 2026, Reboot Monkey's field engineers work in 190 countries and more than 400 locations. For a Marseille deployment that means the same service model applies if your estate also spans other sites, and one supplier can serve them under a single working method.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does remote hands cover in Marseille?
Remote hands covers physical tasks carried out on your instruction inside the data center: reboots, cable checks, component swaps and visual checks. A Reboot Monkey engineer performs the task in your rack and reports back. Work needing diagnostic judgement and configuration knowledge is smart hands, and installing new hardware is rack and stack, so each request has a defined scope.
Do you provide on-site IT support in Marseille data centers?
Yes. Reboot Monkey engineers carry out on-site IT support in Marseille data centers: you send an instruction, an engineer performs the task in your rack under the facility operator's site rules, and you receive confirmation of the result. A second, briefed engineer is named as backup for every customer site. Prices are quoted on request and depend on the job.
Do you work in every datacenter in Marseille?
Reboot Monkey engineers work in any facility in Marseille where the customer has equipment and access, under the operator's own access and safety rules. The customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list before the first visit.
How fast can Reboot Monkey respond in Marseille?
Incidents and unplanned requests are handled under a 1-hour, around-the-clock incident response SLA. There is also a 15 minute premium response available where technicians are stationed on-site, as a paid add-on. On-site, dispatch and resolution times, priority tiers, and planned or scheduled work are agreed per site in the service agreement.
How is Reboot Monkey different from the facility operator's own staff?
Facility operators' own technicians work for the building. Reboot Monkey engineers work for the customer: they are independent from facility operators (not Equinix SmartHands, not NTT staff), follow the customer's instructions, and the same team can cover several buildings in the city under one agreement.
How do I get started with remote hands in Marseille?
Send the site, the equipment and the task through the contact form. Reboot Monkey replies with a quote and an engineer plan for that facility. Once agreed, the customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list and the remote hands work is scheduled under the operator's rules.
