Server Migration in Rotterdam
NL-ix describes the Rotterdam region as an important internet hub for fibre-optic routes to Brussels and Paris and for maritime cables to the United States via London. NL-ix also says its Rotterdam exchange R_iX is a great base for connections to London, Amsterdam, Paris and Frankfurt. For a CTO or IT Director, that is the context in which a move to or within Rotterdam is planned. Eurofiber Datacenter Rotterdam 2 stands on Schuttevaerweg in Rotterdam.
Server migration, in the terms Reboot Monkey uses, is moving equipment between racks, rooms or facilities. A migration may be a rack-to-rack move inside one hall, a move between rooms, or a transfer from one facility to another. Reboot Monkey is a third-party datacenter services operator. It is not a hosting company and does not own datacenters, so the work is done inside facilities that other companies own and run. That keeps the move vendor-neutral: the equipment, the facility and the carriers are yours to choose.

Our Server Migration Services
A migration project is handled as a sequence of agreed steps rather than a single dispatch. The scope is set with you before any equipment is touched, and the way the work is split between Reboot Monkey and your own team is part of that scope.
- Whole physical move: Reboot Monkey runs the move from the source rack to the destination rack, including the cabling in the customer's rack.
- Work alongside your team: your staff keep the tasks they want to own, and Reboot Monkey engineers take the rest.
- Role split per project: who disconnects, reconnects and tests the equipment is agreed per project, so responsibility for each stage is clear before the work starts.
- Network for the rack: Reboot Monkey orders the cross connects and carrier circuits from the facility operator and the carriers present in the facility, and Reboot Monkey engineers install and patch the cabling in the customer's rack.
- Backup engineer: a second, briefed Reboot Monkey engineer is named as backup for every customer site.
Why Reboot Monkey
Reboot Monkey engineers are dispatched to the customer's facility, so the same operating model applies whether the move is within Rotterdam or part of a wider programme. The facility operator owns and runs the building, including its power, cooling and access policy, and Reboot Monkey engineers work under the operator's site rules. Planning a migration therefore starts with the operator's access procedure, and the sequence of disconnection, transport and reconnection is built around it. The work is not limited to the move itself. Rack and stack covers installing, mounting and cabling new hardware at the destination. Hardware monitoring by the Reboot Monkey NOC covers the customer's servers and network equipment once they are running again. Remote hands and smart hands cover the physical and technical tasks that come up after cut-over, from cable checks and component swaps to work that needs diagnostic judgement and configuration knowledge. Prices are quoted on request and depend on the customer and the size of the job.
How Reboot Monkey Works
These terms apply in every facility in Rotterdam where Reboot Monkey engineers work.
- Response: 1-hour, around-the-clock incident response SLA, and a 15 minute premium response available where technicians are stationed on-site, as a paid add-on. The incident response SLA covers incidents and unplanned requests; on-site, dispatch and resolution times, priority tiers, and planned or scheduled work are agreed per site in the service agreement.
- Monitoring: 24/7 NOC monitoring across all facilities, covering IPMI, iDRAC, SNMP, temperature, power, network signals.
- Hardware: vendor-neutral technicians for Dell, HP, Cisco, Juniper and Arista equipment.
- Independence: independent from facility operators (not Equinix SmartHands, not NTT staff).
- One agreement: single provider across cities, so a customer in several cities needs only one agreement.
- Service levels and terms: https://www.rebootmonkey.com/en/solutions/sla
- Published case study: a major ICT provider engaged Reboot Monkey for three full infrastructure rollouts in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, with the hardware installed the same day at every site. Server Migration in Other Cities in Netherlands
A migration programme often spans more than one site. If part of your estate sits in the capital, the same approach applies to Server Migration in Amsterdam, with the same agreed split of roles between Reboot Monkey and your own team. Moves between cities in the Netherlands are planned as one project, with source and destination handled in a single scope.
Related Services
A migration usually ends with equipment that needs rack space. If the destination in Rotterdam is a new rack, Colocation in Rotterdam provides the rack space, and rack and stack installs, mounts and cables the hardware once it arrives. Where retired equipment is left behind after the move, data center decommissioning removes and disposes of it, and IT asset disposition covers data wiping, on-site shredding or degaussing, collection and transport, and resale or buyback quoted case by case.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does server migration cover in Rotterdam?
Server migration covers moving equipment between racks, rooms or facilities. Reboot Monkey can run the whole physical move or work alongside your own team, and who disconnects, reconnects and tests the equipment is agreed per project. A second, briefed Reboot Monkey engineer is named as backup for every customer site.
Do you work in every datacenter in Rotterdam?
Reboot Monkey engineers work in any facility in Rotterdam where the customer has equipment and access, under the operator's own access and safety rules. The customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list before the first visit.
How fast can Reboot Monkey respond in Rotterdam?
Incidents and unplanned requests are handled under a 1-hour, around-the-clock incident response SLA. There is also a 15 minute premium response available where technicians are stationed on-site, as a paid add-on. On-site, dispatch and resolution times, priority tiers, and planned or scheduled work are agreed per site in the service agreement.
How is Reboot Monkey different from the facility operator's own staff?
Facility operators' own technicians work for the building. Reboot Monkey engineers work for the customer: they are independent from facility operators (not Equinix SmartHands, not NTT staff), follow the customer's instructions, and the same team can cover several buildings in the city under one agreement.
How do I get started with server migration in Rotterdam?
Send the site, the equipment and the task through the contact form. Reboot Monkey replies with a quote and an engineer plan for that facility. Once agreed, the customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list and the server migration work is scheduled under the operator's rules.
