Smart Hands in Amsterdam
AMS-IX says it was established in 1994, after academic institutions at the Science Park in Amsterdam sought to exchange data directly. AMS-IX says it has become one of the largest internet exchange points globally, connecting internet service providers, content providers and streaming services. NIKHEF Amsterdam stands on Science Park in Amsterdam. Amsterdam is also home to Euronext Amsterdam, a stock exchange whose history reaches back to 1602 and which is considered the oldest modern securities market in the world. For a CTO or IT director whose equipment sits in this city, the practical question is who can work on that equipment when a fault needs more than a button press. Smart hands is the service built for that situation: technical work that needs diagnostic judgement and configuration knowledge, carried out inside the data center where your hardware runs. Reboot Monkey is a third-party datacenter services operator. It sells rack space, IP transit, leased IP addresses, network, data-centre hardware and the services that deliver, install and support them, inside data centers that other companies own and run. It is not a hosting company and it does not own a data center, so the work is done in the facility your equipment already occupies.

Our Smart Hands Services
A smart hands request starts with your instruction and ends with the work done in your rack. Reboot Monkey engineers diagnose faults on servers and network equipment, carry out component swaps and configure hardware as you direct. Remote hands covers the simpler physical tasks, such as reboots, cable checks and visual checks. Smart hands covers the work where the engineer has to reason about the fault and the configuration, not just follow a one-line instruction. Connectivity work belongs to the same service family. Reboot Monkey sells the network for the rack: it orders the cross connects and carrier circuits from the facility operator and the carriers present in the facility, and its engineers install and patch the cabling in your rack. A fibre inspection scope and cleaning kit are available on request when a link needs to be checked at the connector. The same engineers work in related services as well: rack and stack for installing, mounting and cabling new hardware, server migration for moving equipment between racks, rooms or facilities, data center decommissioning for removing and disposing of retired hardware, and hardware monitoring by the Reboot Monkey NOC for your servers and network equipment. The scope of each job is agreed with you before work begins, and prices are quoted on request and depend on the customer and the size of the job.
- Fault diagnosis on servers and network equipment
- Component swaps and hardware configuration in your rack
- Installation and patching of cabling in your rack

Why Reboot Monkey
Amsterdam is one location in a wider field operation. As of 2026, Reboot Monkey's field engineers work in 190 countries and more than 400 locations, so a customer with equipment in several places deals with one provider for the work. For each customer site a second, briefed Reboot Monkey engineer is named as backup, which means the person who knows your racks is not a single point of failure when a request arrives. That division is deliberate. You keep your existing facility and your existing contracts with its operator, and Reboot Monkey supplies the engineering hands and the network services around them. Because Reboot Monkey does not host your workloads, the service has no interest in moving you out of the facility you have chosen, and the work is limited to what you instruct and the operator's rules allow.
How Reboot Monkey Works
These terms apply in every facility in Amsterdam where Reboot Monkey engineers work.
- Response: 1-hour, around-the-clock incident response SLA, and a 15 minute premium response available where technicians are stationed on-site, as a paid add-on. The incident response SLA covers incidents and unplanned requests; on-site, dispatch and resolution times, priority tiers, and planned or scheduled work are agreed per site in the service agreement.
- Monitoring: 24/7 NOC monitoring across all facilities, covering IPMI, iDRAC, SNMP, temperature, power, network signals.
- Hardware: vendor-neutral technicians for Dell, HP, Cisco, Juniper and Arista equipment.
- Independence: independent from facility operators (not Equinix SmartHands, not NTT staff).
- One agreement: single provider across cities, so a customer in several cities needs only one agreement.

- Published case study: a major ICT provider engaged Reboot Monkey for three full infrastructure rollouts in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, with the hardware installed the same day at every site. Related Services
Smart hands often sits next to other work on the same equipment. When hardware has to change location, the move is planned and carried out as Server Migration in Amsterdam, covering equipment moved between racks, rooms or facilities. When you need space and connectivity for new equipment, Colocation in Amsterdam is the starting point, with the rack space and network that smart hands engineers then install and support. Taken together, these services let you plan a deployment, install it, move it later and keep it running through the same provider.
Frequently Asked Questions

Do you provide on-site IT support in Amsterdam data centers?
Yes. Reboot Monkey engineers carry out on-site IT support in Amsterdam data centers on your instruction, inside the facility where your equipment runs. A second, briefed engineer is named as backup for every customer site. Prices are quoted on request.
Do you work in every datacenter in Amsterdam?
Reboot Monkey engineers work in any facility in Amsterdam where the customer has equipment and access, under the operator's own access and safety rules. The customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list before the first visit.
How fast can Reboot Monkey respond in Amsterdam?
Incidents and unplanned requests are handled under a 1-hour, around-the-clock incident response SLA. How is Reboot Monkey different from the facility operator's own staff?

Reboot Monkey engineers work for the customer: they are independent from facility operators (not Equinix SmartHands, not NTT staff), follow the customer's instructions, and the same team can cover several buildings in the city under one agreement.
How do I get started with smart hands in Amsterdam?
Send the site, the equipment and the task through the contact form. Reboot Monkey replies with a quote and an engineer plan for that facility. Once agreed, the customer adds the engineers to the facility's access list and the smart hands work is scheduled under the operator's rules.
